"Yoga attempts to create a state in which we are always present - really present - in every action, in every moment".
TKV Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga
Yoga is a great tradition that began in India centuries ago. Over that time, many different systems and styles of yoga have emerged. Perhaps the most popular in the West is Hatha yoga which involves the physical poses, breath control and meditation. Although yoga is an ancient tradition, it is just as helpful today in our modern, fast-paced lives and enables us to achieve health and general well-being.
Yoga poses improve our strength, flexibility and balance. They help us to develop an awareness of our bodies and release our internal energy, leaving us feeling more alive. As we focus on the breath this helps to deepen our yoga poses and to develop a sense of calm. In this way we begin to train the mind to be still and bring balance to our body and mind.
Yoga offers us the chance to improve our sense of well-being and to feel happier within ourselves and it is fun.
I teach classes at the Beacon, Wantage, the Complementary Healthcare Practice, Abingdon and the Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot. I also offer individual tuition and private yoga classes for businesses.
